When hubby and I want to get away for some alone time to unwind, Orlando is the perfect getaway for us. It's a bit over 5 hours to drive from Charleston, and we absolutely love the vibe and shopping. We like to snuggle into a chic and hip hotel for a few days to get away and hide. We like a good lounge area and a nice pool is a must!
The brand new Wave Hotel is situated near Lake Nona in Orlando, and we had the most wonderful time relaxing and focusing on each other. This is a high tech property-- literally everything in our room was remote controlled. Even our bathrooms were outfitted with high tech bidets with seat warmers! We also loved the nice touch of enjoying a Nespresso in our room every morning before heading out.
The interior design is very modern and eclectic, and the vibe of the hotel is very avant-garde-- but still warm and inviting. There were lots of nods to midcentury design and touches of brass everywhere. The service was top notch, and it was so nice to stay in a hotel that was brand new.
We loved the pool area as there are colorful cabanas that you can escape the hot Florida sun for a quick nap before dipping back into the pool. They have taken great care with the gardens around the property, and there are lots of modern sculptures nestled among the palm trees. It was so nice to stroll through this area during sunset.
